Tomorrow is my daughter Cora’s 7th birthday. We’ve been celebrating all weekend. That’s what you do when you have kids you love or trust-funds.
People often remark that Cora looks just like her mother. She does. No disputing that. But, I often counter with, “she may look like her mother, but she’s wired just like me.”
Tonight, was a perfect example of how similar we are. Cora wanted Rainforest Cafe for dinner. It’s a bit hokey, but, the theme of her party earlier in the day, was safari. So, Rainforest Cafe, fit. That’s an Adam move. But, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
When we showed up to get our name on the list, the hostess explained we were looking at a 2 hour wait. Cora, said, “that’s fine. We’ll wait.” For 2 hours we tried to subtly convince her to choose another eating option.
For 2 hours, she was defiant, stubborn and focused. She wanted Rainforest Cafe and dammit, she was going to get Rainforest Cafe.
Just like I’ve taught her, she didn’t compromise on what she wanted. She was exactly the little girl I raised!
Watch out for this one. She’s going to be a tough negotiator in life.
